Abstract
The interaction of atomic systems with electromagnetic field is
described by minimal coupling principle, which assures gauge
invariance of the Schroedinger equation. Whereas gauge invariance is a
basic property of electromagnetic interactions, it can be apparently
violated if eg. the transition amplitudes are calculated by
approximate methods. One example is the Strong Field Approximation
(SFA) commonly used in the description of interaction with strong and
short laser pulses. Subject of the talk is to discuss this problem and
show some ways to obtain manifestly gauge invariant expression for the
transition amplitude.
