Ridge, NY, May 4, 2011 --- The doors are open for submissions to
Physical Review X (PRX), the new online, open access research journal
from APS covering all fields of physics. Authors and research institutions
worldwide are invited to be a part of this new venture.
As broad in scope as physics itself, PRX is committed to publishing
excellent, original research in pure, applied, and interdisciplinary fields,
which will be valued by a global readership. PRX will provide validation
through prompt and rigorous peer review, and an open access venue
within the Physical Review family of publications. The first issue of PRX
is planned for September of this year.
PRX's Editor is Jorge Pullin, Chair of the Horace C. Hearne, Jr. Institute
for Theoretical Physics and professor in the Louisiana State University
Center for Computation & Technology and Department of Physics and
Astronomy. Pullin received his Ph.D. from the Instituto Balseiro and has
research interests in many aspects of gravitational physics, both classical
and quantum mechanical. PRX Associate Editor Ling Miao received her
Ph.D. in statistical physics, soft condensed matter physics, and biophysics
from Simon Fraser University. A strongly international editorial board of
distinguished scientists has been assembled with coverage of all fields
of physics (http://prx.aps.org/staff).
Articles in PRX will be published under the terms of the Creative
Commons Attribution 3.0 License, leaving copyright with the authors.
Article-processing charges of $1500 per published article, paid by
authors or their institutions, will cover peer review, composition,
hosting, and archiving, and allow PRX to be freely available. More
information and details of how to submit an article appear on the
journal's website: (http://prx.aps.org/). Updates may also be received
by email (http://publish.aps.org/alerts).
About APS: The American Physical Society (www.aps.org) is a non-profit
membership organization working to advance and diffuse the knowledge
of physics through its outstanding research journals, scientific meetings,
and education, outreach, advocacy and international activities. APS
represents 48,000 members, including physicists in academia, national
laboratories and industry in the United States and throughout the world.
Society offices are located in College Park, MD (Headquarters), Ridge, NY,
