Seminario de Probabilidad y Estadística Matemática.
PROXIMO ENCUENTRO: Miércoles 20 de abril, 12.00hs.
EXPOSITOR: Florencia Leonardi, Universidad de San Pablo.
TITULO: Modeling genetic SNP maps with variable range Markov fields
LUGAR: Instituto de Cálculo, 2do piso, Pab 2.
RESUMEN: A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) is a frequent mutation
(occurring in more than 1 percent of the population) in a single base
of the genome of an organism. The maps of SNPs are useful sets of markers
for the identification of regions in the genome associated with
complex diseases.
In this work we model a case/control database of SNPs maps of
Rheumatoid Arthritis
patients, using variable range Markov fields. We propose a maximum
pseudo-likelihood
criterion to estimate the influence region for each SNP and we show
its consistency.
The results show that the SNPs can be divided into influence windows, where each
window is independent of the others. This representation makes it
possible to study the
association of each set of SNPs with the disease. Studying different
distances between
the probability distributions of the case/control sets over the
different windows, we found
a region in the sixth chromosome that shows a strong association with
the Rheumatoid Arthritis.
La charla será en castellano.
