ABSTRACT:
In this talk we will present  the work  that  is being developed in
our group concerning  the study of the blood cycle of malaria. We first discuss
the worldwide situation and the basic concepts necessary to understand the
malaria cycle involving mosquito and human beings. Then we introduce the  basic
concepts about cellular automata, a mathematical tool that will be used to model
the blood cycle (or erythrocytic cycle). We validate the model by comparing the
parasitemia time series obtained from our model with the one of malaria
patients extracted from the  data collected from 330 patients. We also discuss
the classification we have performed concerning similarities and
dissimilarities among the patients time series ,using a non supervised
clustering technique that is based on the first-order transitions of a
ferromagnetic Potts model (Superparamagnetic Clustering).
