face="Times New Roman" size=3>Long-term dynamics of populations and their traits
reflect the coupling<BR>between ecological and evolutionary processes. In
this talk, I present an<BR>overview of recent work that predicts evolution of
organismal traits<BR>within a variety of ecological contexts. The
applications are diverse and<BR>include the study of evolution of dispersal in
marine reserves, the<BR>response of predator-size to changes in prey size, as
well as the<BR>coevolution of host-viral kinetics in continuous culture
environments.<BR>The methodology exploits fast-slow dynamics in these systems,
bridging the<BR>fields of population dynamics and evolutionary game
theory. Throughout<BR>the talk, I show how outcomes of multi-scale models
can contradict<BR>predictions from models of ecological dynamics
alone.</FONT><BR></DIV></SPAN></FONT></FONT></FONT></SPAN></SPAN></FONT></FONT></SPAN></SPAN></SPAN></O:P></SPAN></FONT></FONT></FONT></FONT></FONT></BODY></HTML>
