term organometallic chemistry is used for a vast field of different activities,
spanning the range from classical co-ordination chemistry which has its roots in
inorganic chemistry and its focus in synthesis and characterisation of metal
complexes, to the more modern use in metal-mediated organic transformations en
route to new pharmaceuticals or during the total synthesis of highly complex
organic or natural products. For many decades, there is a vast amount of
catalytic processes promoted by organometallics, e.g. in polymer
synthesis.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
