Estimados

MICROSOFT AZURE FOR RESEARCH
============================

Microsoft Azure is an open and flexible global cloud platform supporting
any language, tool, or framework, and is ideally suited
to researchers’ needs across disciplines. Microsoft Research is
pleased to offer training for academic researchers(“practitioners”)
who would like to learn how to conduct their research on a highly
scalable and flexible cloud infrastructure, such as that offered by
Microsoft Azure.

We are currently offering free, technical, training events around the
world, presented by specialized Microsoft Azure for Research trainers.
The course is intended specifically for active scientists who can code,
who will soon code, or are interested in coding in a modern computing
context. Computer scientists who are working with such scientists will
also benefit from the training.

Attendees will be able to access Microsoft Azure on their own laptop
during the training and for evaluation purposes for up to six months
after the event. The attendee’s laptop does not need to have the Windows
operating system installed—Microsoft Azure is accessed via your Internet
browser.

This is a programming class, so some ability to program in a modern
language is useful, but the course is suitable for researchers using any
language, framework, or platform. This includes Linux, Python, R,
MATLAB, Java, Hadoop, STORM, SPARK, and Microsoft technologies such as
C#, F#, Microsoft .NET, Microsoft Azure SQL Database, and various
Microsoft Azure services.

Some basic exposure to cloud computing is helpful, but no real expertise
or usage experience is required; the focus of the class is to teach you
this. Learning outcomes include:
-Gaining an understanding of cloud computing and why and when you would
use it in scientific or other research
-Acquiring hands on experience in the major de sign patterns for
successful cloud applications
-Developing the skills to run your own application/services on Microsoft
Azure
