Post-doc opening at the Laboratory of Quantum Chemistry, University of 
Strasbourg, France.

A one-year post-doc position (with a possible one-year extension) is now 
opened in the framework of the "Laboratoires d'Excellence" program 
(LabEx) entitled "Chemistry of complex systems" [1].

The post-doc assistant will work with Emmanuel Fromager on the 
development of multi-configuration density-functional theories for 
excited states. This includes the derivation of new quantum chemical 
models, their computational implementation and their calibration.

Two approaches will be explored. The first one consists in combining 
time-dependent multi-configuration linear response theory with optimized 
effective potential techniques by means of range separation [2,3]. In 
the second approach, that is time-independent, ensembles of fractionally 
occupied excited states will be considered for the purpose of 
describing, for example, conical intersections [4].

Applicants, who are expected to have a strong background in electronic 
structure theory, should send their CV as well as a list of publications 
and a letter of motivation to Emmanuel Fromager (fromagere at unistra.fr

Practical information: the monthly salary will be about 2000 € (after 
taxes).
