Subject: Two postdoctoral positions in Barcelona (Statistical Physics of
Complex Matter)

Dear Colleagues,

Two postdoctoral positions are available to work in the Group of
Statistical Physics of Complex Matter, at the Department of Fundamental
Physics, Universitat de Barcelona.

The positions are to carry out theoretical research in the field of
aqueous solutions and aqueous interfaces in contact with biomolecules
and nanoparticles.

The successful candidate is expected to produce independent and original
research in the area of statistical physics and computer simulations of
condensed phases, including the development and application of
non-equilibrium theory and simulations.

The first position is for 1 year.
The second position is for 1.5 years.

For both positions the starting date should be between November and
December 2011.

Gross salary per year (including social security) ranges from 36,000 to
57,000 Euros (depending on experience), corresponding to net salary
ranging from 27,000 to 43,000 Euros (net salary depends on age and
marital status).

We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials
Science or a related discipline, with an outstanding curriculum and
experience in the development and use of equilibrium and/or
non-equilibrium statistical physics and/or computer simulation methods
(Classical Molecular Dynamics and Monte Carlo), including atomistic and
mesoscopic techniques.

The ideal candidate has three years of postdoctoral experience, with the
Ph.D. title earned not before Sept. 1st 2008, and willing to apply for a
three-years research associate position in this group.

His/her background includes Statistical Physics, Molecular Physics,
Computational Methods.

He/she has an excellent publication track record, very good
communication skills, high degree of understanding, great ability to
work in cross-field projects, strong motivation to fit into a young and
productive atmosphere.

The selected candidate will work in a team with projects funded by
National and European agencies, within internationally recognized
scientific collaborations in Spain, Europe and USA and in close
collaboration with Ph.D. students and Master students.

Both positions give access to travel money for presenting results at
conferences and for collaborations with other theoretical and
experimental groups.

For more informations consult the group’s web site at
http://www.ffn.ub.es/gfranzese.

Applications (including CV, list of publications, a brief description
of past research and research interests, at least two letters of
recommendation and a motivation letter) should be sent to:

Prof. Giancarlo Franzese (gfranzese en ub.edu). Please send only PDF or TXT
files.

Closing Date: October 31st, 2011.

All material should arrive not later than the closing date in order for
the application to receive full consideration.

The selection process could include an interview, possibly made via
web-conference-call.
