"Megaciudades brasileras: Vulnerabilidad y Adaptación a los Cambios
Climáticos: Región Metropolitana de San Pablo"

Dr. Jose A. Marengo holds bachelors degrees in physics and meteorology
from the Universidad Nacional Agraria in Lima, Peru (1981), a master's
degree in engineering of water and land resources from the Universidad
Nacional Agraria (1987) and a Ph.D. in Meteorology from the University of
Wisconsin - Madison (1991). Dr. Marengo did his post-doctoral work at
NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, Columbia University and Florida
State University. He is currently a senior scientist at the Brasilian
National Institute for Space Research (INPE), where he is coordinator of
the Group of Studies and Research on Climate Change and head of the natural
science division in the new Earth System Science Center (CCST) at INPE. He
is also a professor in INPE's graduate program and is a member of several
international panels: IPCC, VAMOS-CLIVAR, GWSP, and is a member of several
working groups on climate change in Brazil and abroad.
He is also consultant in climate change issues and integrated assessments
and serves as an ad hoc consultant to agencies for funding and review of
scientific journals, national and international funding agencies. He is the
author of several articles, book chapters, books, technical reports and
conference proceedings. Dr. Marengo currently participates in several
research projects with Brazilian, English, French, Japanese and American
and Latin American institutions, and is active member in various boards
involved in climate and hydrology, and global climate change. He has
extensive experience in geoscience, with emphasis on Meteorology, working
mainly on issues in the Amazon, northeast Brazil, climate change, and
climate modeling.
