"Nuclear Astrophysics with exotic-nuclei beams"

Resumen:
Nuclear astrophysics is one of the important 
fields for the understanding
of the Cosmos. The large amount of energy stored 
in the atomic nuclei is
released through the nuclear reactions and plays 
a very important role in
the evolution of the Universe and in the energy 
generation in stars.The
existence of new isotopes out of the line of 
stability (exotic-nuclei)
may have consequences in the models of 
nucleosynthesis of the Big Bang
and in explosive stellar sites like supernovas. 
Some aspects of this new
exciting research area will be presented as well 
as results obtained in
the Radioactive Ion Beams (RIBRAS) facility in São Paulo, Brasil.

(*) Doctor en física de la Universidad de San 
Pablo (USP), Brasil (1988).
Libre docente de la USP en 1996. Fue investigador 
en el Laboratorio de
Ganil, Francia, en el Laboratorio A. Wrigth de la 
Universidad de Yale,
EE.UU. y de la Universidad de Milán, Italia. Fue responsable de la
instalación del equipamiento RIBRAS (Radioactive 
Ion Beams in Brasil),
única instalación de haces exóticos de America Latina. Actualmente es
profesor asociado de la USP y coordinador del proyecto RIBRAS.
