Dear Researcher,

The Latin American and Caribbean Collaborative ICT Research (LACCIR)
Federation invites you to participate on its call for proposals 2009. The
detailed RFP for ICT Research Project Proposals 2009 can be found at
http://www.laccir.org

The goal of the Latin American and Caribbean Collaborative ICT Research
(LACCIR) Federation is to support world-class academic research projects
which will generate new knowledge and contribute to expand the
capabilities of information and communication technologies across the LAC
(Latin America and Caribbean) regions.

This RFP will support academic research that can lead to scientific and
technical advances in ICT. Such research initiatives may be in the field
of Computer Science and Engineering, but it might also require support of
other fields. Multidisciplinary approaches are welcome.

This call for proposals focuses on regional priority application areas of:

** Healthcare
** Education
** Energy
** Earth, Environment & Climate Change.

Please have in mind the Research Proposal requirements threefold: it
should focus on the objective of supporting high-quality fundamental
research in information and communication technologies that are geared
towards addressing the social and economic development needs of the Latin
American and Caribbean region.
Research should be jointly developed in collaboration
with at least one other country University (one LACCIR member University
and at least one institution from other country); and it should have the
potential to be granted with other organizations  matching funds.

All proposals received in compliance with the eligibility criteria, will
be reviewed and evaluated by LACCIR VI Technical Committee (VITC). Based
on evaluations by the Technical Committee, the Joint Steering Committee of
LACCIR VI will select the most worthy proposals for funding.

- Total amount available US$300,000. LACCIR anticipates funding up to 6
proposals.

- Deadline forsubmission of proposals: September 21st, 2009.

- Notification of Awards: December 14 th, 2009.
