Post-doc positions at the Weizmann Institute of Science
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The high energy theory group at the Weizmann Institute invites
applications for 2 post-doctoral positions starting in the fall of 2010.
The positions are for 3 years.
The Weizmann theory group includes Ofer Aharony (string theory and field
theory), Micha Berkooz (field theory and string theory), Yitzhak Frishman
(field theory), Doron Gepner (CFT), Yossi Nir (astro-particle and
phenomenology), Gilad Perez (phenomenology) and Adam Schwimmer (string
theory and field theory). We also benefit from the proximity of other
institutions with high energy physics theoreticians including Yaron Oz,
Shimon Yankielowicz, Jacob Sonnenschein, Nissan Itzhaki, Eliezer
Rabinovici, Shmuel Elitzur, Amit Giveon and Barak Kol, who visit the
Weizmann Institute on a regular basis. We expect to have a very active and
stimulating environment.
You may find information about the fellowship amount and other details at
http://www.fgs.org.il/en/article.php?id=10
(but please ignore the application information there, and apply according
to the instructions below).
The fellowship is tax-free, and in addition we can offer up to 250$ a
month towards housing expenses. Overall, the amounts are in accord with
living expenses in Israel. European candidates will be encouraged to apply
to an EU Marie Curie fellowship, which (if received) would lead to a
substantially increased salary. Additional funds will be provided to
support any scientific expenditure, travel expenses, etc.
The Weizmann Institute is in Rehovot, which is a small city about half an
hour (by train or by car) from Tel Aviv, the main metropolitan area in
Israel. General information about the Weizmann Institute may be found at
http://www.weizmann.ac.il
Any questions about these positions should be addressed to:
Ofer Aharony (Ofer.Aharony en weizmann.ac.il)
or
Micha Berkooz (Micha.Berkooz en weizmann.ac.il).
We are part of a group of institutions in Europe that work on theoretical
high-energy physics, and that collaborate for post-doc applications, using
a web based procedure. You should use the application form found at
http://itf.fys.kuleuven.be/postdoc-application/
On that web site you will find also all relevant information about the
application process.
This application is considered for any post-doc position in these
institutions, or you can limit your application to a subset of the
participating institutions.
The deadline is November 30, 2009, but post-doc candidates are encouraged
to start with a first version of their application earlier (see
instructions on the web page).
