XI LATIN AMERICAN WORKSHOP ON NONLINEAR PHENOMENA (LAWNP 2009)


1ST ANNOUNCEMENT


Dear Colleague:


It is a pleasure to announce the eleventh edition of the Latin
American Workshop on Nonlinear Phenomena (LAWNP), which will
take place in Buzios (a beautiful place on the seashore near
Rio de Janeiro city), from the 5th to the 9th of October 2009.


The conference will be the eleventh edition of a series that have
gathered, biennially over the past 20 years, scientists focusing
their research in general aspects of nonlinear science.


The LAWNP meeting series has played an important role for the
Latin-American community working in this steadily growing
interdisciplinary field, allowing researchers to be updated
with the most recent progresses and also to present their
latest results. Moreover, the conference is a natural forum
which promotes scientific cooperation within Latin America as
well as with other parts of the world.


Nonlinear phenomena are present in a large number of areas, so
the LAWNP series usually has a wide scope. In this way, the
2009 event will keep the tradition of previous conferences,
encompassing a variety of topics representing novel trends and
recent developments in the field. For this year event, the
suggested topics are:


- classical and quantum chaos
- growth dynamics
- reaction-diffusion systems
- pattern formation
- synchronization
- nonlinear wave propagation
- fluid mechanics and turbulence
- complex fluids and granular systems
- fragmentation
- nonlinear optics
- far-from-equilibrium and fluctuation phenomena
- complex systems
- networks and traffic dynamics
- interdisciplinary applications
