Marie Curie Early-Stage-Researchers in Imaging and Control in Chemistry
(ICONIC)

(Full time, fixed term for 36 months)

 

With funding imminently expected from the European Commission under the
FP7-PEOPLE-ITN-2008 Marie Curie Actions - Networks for Initial Training
(ITN) programme - ICONIC (Imaging and CONtrol In Chemistry) is a Initial
Training Network linking laboratories in Amsterdam, Bristol, Frankfurt,
Freiburg, Heraklion, Leeds, Nijmegen, Oxford, Paris, Prague and Toulouse. 
The initial training network funds early stage research positions in, and
travel costs between, the participating laboratories.

 

These posts are to support a student registered on a PhD degree programme. 
You will have an undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant
discipline, e.g. Chemistry or Physics, you will be expected to register for
a PhD degree and will work on:-

 

  *  Developing time-resolved photoelectron imaging (TR-PEI).
  *  Developing an understanding of intersystems and internal conversion
     between electronically excited states of molecules.
  *  And/or developing coherent control schemes for field-free molecular
     alignment molecular alignment applications in TR-PEI experiments.

 

It is anticipated that the research performed will form all or part of your
studies towards a postgraduate degree (PhD) in Chemical Physics.  European
and international applications are welcomed; however, nationals or residents
of the UK cannot usually apply.  You must be eligible to be appointed as an
Early Stage Researcher in the UK.
