RESUMEN:
 
For centuries, the pursuit of physics involved acquiring a core tool set of concepts, mathematics, instrumental know-how, and scientific analytic abilities. Those tools were mostly used to study profound but seemingly arcane puzzles about matter and energy. And still are. Yet even as physicists' core tool set becomes ever more sophisticated, physics today inhabits less of an ivory tower and more of the messy, real-life world of chemists, biologists, and engineers. I will share some of my idiosyncratic views of the state of physics in the early 21st century.
