TITULO:  "Applications in Human Language Technology"

CONFERENCISTA: Dr. Horacio Saggion -Department of Computer Science -
University of Sheffield, UK

ABSTRACT:
In this talk I will introduce GATE - the General Architecture for Text 
Engineering  an open source system for the development of human language 
technology applications.  A number of practical applications in natural 
language processing  developed with GATE will be presented
including  text summarization, information extraction, and question 
answering.

EXPOSITOR:
Horacio Saggión es actualmente Research Fellow for the Natural Language
Processing Group at the Department of Computer Science en la University of
Sheffield, UK. Ha obtenido su Ph.D. in Computer Science en la University
of Montreal, un
Master in Computer Science en la Universidade Estadual de Campinas
(UNICAMP)Brasil, y de Licenciado en Ciencias de la Computación en la FCEN,
UBA.
Su area de investigación es Lingusítica Computacional en los siguientes
temas: Text Summarization (Single and Multidocument); Information
Extraction; Question Answering; Parsing & Text Chunking; Coreference;
Natural Language Generation; Machine Learning for Natural Language
Processing; NLP for Multimedia.
